Did you know that less than 15 minutes from Eurovillas is one of the most unique baroque urban complexes in Spain? Nuevo Baztán is much more than a pretty village: it is a living piece of history, a perfect getaway to disconnect and rediscover the rural environment of Madrid. Whether you live in the area or are planning a weekend trip from Madrid, this small town will surprise you with its architecture, its unique industrial history and its quiet and cozy atmosphere.

An illustrated project: the history of Nuevo Baztán

Nuevo Baztán was founded in the early 18th century by Juan de Goyeneche, an influential politician and businessman from Navarre who dreamed of creating an exemplary industrial city in the middle of the plateau. Inspired by Enlightenment ideals, he built a self-sufficient urban complex around glass, textile and paper factories, and commissioned the architect José de Churriguera to design it, resulting in a masterpiece of Spanish Baroque.

The heart of the town is the Palacio de Goyeneche, attached to the Church of San Francisco Javier, patron saint of the town. The whole complex was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and continues to be the axis of the life of the municipality.
